Coach Gene Clemons (@geneclemons) and Chris James (@CJFlorida9) recorded Episode 20 of Fade the Field on Thursday, Oct. 15, before the Week 6 Thursday night game. The show runs four quarters and an overtime: best favorite, best underdog, best over, best under, then props.

The headline is one game. Gene's top play of the week is the over in Saints at Giants, and the same game is his best underdog. CJ, a Saints fan from New Orleans, doesn't trust either team and says so. Then Gene closes the show with a touchdown combo he says he'll run every week until further notice.

Gene's top play: Saints at Giants over 45.5

This is the game Gene keeps coming back to, and his case for points starts with the weather. Jameis Winston has played three straight games in rain and 30-mph gusts. Sunday is supposed to be dry. Gene also thinks the Giants finally found the offense that suits him in the second half last week: Winston in the shotgun, catch, read, throw, operating fast instead of selling play action.

Then he adds what both quarterbacks do with the ball. The Giants want to be a power-run team until they find out they aren't, and then Winston throws. Tyler Shough throws whenever New Orleans falls behind. The Giants defense takes the ball away, and Winston, in Gene's words, has been known to give you one on a good-weather day. Turnovers on both sides mean short fields, and short fields mean points. He can't see this game staying under 50, and he names the scores he expects: 28–21, 31–24.

47.545¢~2.22x
51.534¢~2.94x

CJ had 51 combined points in his own projection, so the two of them land in the same place from different directions. His one worry is the Saints' run game: if it works early, New Orleans can sit on the ball. If it doesn't, the Saints pivot to throwing quickly.

Q2, best underdog: the Giants to win outright

Gene's underdog is the same game. The Saints are 1.5-point road favorites and the Giants are home underdogs, which Gene doesn't understand. The Giants defense is far better than New Orleans's, and the Saints defense is bad at exactly the things the Giants offense does well. His other argument is the Giants defensive staff: over the first five games they've made excellent in-game adjustments, so he expects New Orleans to move the ball early and stall once the adjustments land.

He takes the Giants to win at 49¢ and, for more payout, Giants −2.5 at 45¢. A team the market won't make a favorite at home is, to Gene, a market that doesn't believe its own number.

CJ picked New Orleans to win a close game and put almost no confidence in it. Both teams are erratic, and he trusts neither. He also has a run of history to point to: the NFC South has won as an underdog four weeks running. The Saints beat the Ravens, the Falcons beat the Packers, the Panthers beat the Lions and the Buccaneers beat the Cowboys. He flags Pittsburgh at Tampa Bay as the next game to watch (Steelers at Buccaneers).

CJ's own underdog is Cowboys +1.5 at Green Bay on Sunday night. He thinks the Packers are inflated and that Dallas can run it, throw it and put up 30.

Q3, CJ's over: Cowboys at Packers over 52.5

CJ's over is his underdog game, and it's his third-best play of the week. One team can run the ball, the other wants to and can't, and both quarterbacks, in CJ's phrase, believe YOLO belongs in their portfolio. The last time these two met it finished with 80 combined points. It went to overtime, but CJ says even 65 clears this number easily, and he's calling 60-plus.

Gene reads the over 52.5 at 52¢. For anyone who agrees with CJ about 60, the over 61.5 trades at 28¢, about 3.6x.

Q1, best favorite: Ravens stepped up to −5.5 at Cleveland

Gene thinks the market is underselling Baltimore because Tyler Huntley may start for Lamar Jackson. Huntley has run this offense before and won. Gene's view is that the Browns are better than expected and still not a good team, and in a division game he takes the better team. He expects turnovers and a running game that works, with Derrick Henry in the end zone again.

The line is Ravens −3.5 at 51¢. Gene steps up to −5.5 at 44¢ because NFL games rarely end on four. If Baltimore wins by a touchdown, the −3.5 and −5.5 cash on the same games and the −5.5 pays more.

CJ agrees on the side. With Lamar he has Ravens 23–16; with Huntley, 20–16. That's the honest catch: CJ's own Huntley projection cashes −3.5 and misses −5.5. His suggestion is to ladder it: take a piece at −3.5 and add rungs further out.

CJ's favorite is Bears −1.5 at Atlanta, as long as Caleb Williams plays. He can't see why it's only 1.5. If Williams is out, he moves to Bills −5.5 at Las Vegas, even though he calls 5.5 the most frustrating line there is: good enough to blow a team out, close enough for the other side to cover late.

Live boards: Ravens at Browns · Bears at Falcons · Bills at Raiders. For the quarterback situations behind all three lines, see the Week 6 QB and injury forks.

Q4, best under: Titans at Colts under 44.5

Both hosts landed here. In Week 1 the Bears scored 59 points against Carolina. Through five weeks, the Titans have scored 58 points total, 11.6 a game. CJ can't see how any model suggested 44.5. Gene adds that Indianapolis wins by running the ball and controlling the clock, which keeps its own score down and leaves Tennessee little time. The Titans' highest-scoring game of the season, 24–20 against Philadelphia, would still have stayed under this number.

CJ's only path to the over is chaos: pick-sixes, a fumble return, a kick return touchdown. Gene thinks this may be the only good under on the slate.

He named one more low-scoring game, Jets at Patriots, and said he wouldn't put a position on it, not with the way Drake Maye has played the last two weeks. Live boards: Titans at Colts · Jets at Patriots.

Overtime: Tyler Shough over 275 and the touchdown combo

CJ's prop is Tyler Shough over 275 passing yards at roughly 3.1 to 1. His case: New Orleans can't run the ball, and if the Giants get ahead, the Saints have to throw to catch up. Gene agrees it's a passing script for both quarterbacks.

Gene's is the one he says to put in every week until further notice: an anytime-touchdown combo of Derrick Henry, Josh Allen and Kenneth Walker. All three teams give the ball to that player whenever they get near the goal line. Walker has two touchdowns in three of Kansas City's four games and is coming off a bye. Allen scores a touchdown nearly every week, and the hosts point out how many of them come from a yard or two out.

Here is the part to check before you copy it. Gene quoted the singles on tape:

LegPrice on tape
Derrick Henry anytime TD (at Cleveland)64¢
Josh Allen anytime TD (at Las Vegas)59¢
Kenneth Walker anytime TD (vs. Chargers)62¢
All three, if the legs are independent~23.4%, about 4.3x before fees

Gene described the combo as paying 8x to 12x. At the singles' own prices it should cost about 23¢ and pay about 4.3x, so price the actual combo before you enter it. If Kalshi is offering much more than 4.3x, that's an edge. If it's offering less, you're paying for the combo. At 23%, the combo hits about two or three weeks out of 11, not eight. Gene's argument is that the singles are underpriced, which would push every one of those numbers up.

Fade the Field Ep. 20: NFL Week 6 Picks, the Saints–Giants Over and a Three-Man Touchdown Combo — frequently asked

What are Fade the Field's best NFL Week 6 picks?

Recorded Oct. 15, 2026: Ravens at Browns stepped up to Ravens −5.5 (44¢), Bears −1.5 at Atlanta if Caleb Williams plays (Bills −5.5 at Las Vegas if he doesn't), the Giants to beat the Saints outright (49¢), Cowboys +1.5 at Green Bay, the Saints–Giants over 45.5 (52¢), the Cowboys–Packers over 52.5 (52¢), Titans–Colts under 44.5, Tyler Shough over 275 passing yards and an anytime-touchdown combo of Derrick Henry, Josh Allen and Kenneth Walker.

What is Coach Gene's best play of NFL Week 6?

Saints at Giants over 45.5, trading at 52¢ when the show was recorded. Gene's case: Jameis Winston gets his first dry-weather game after three straight in rain and wind, both teams end up throwing, and both quarterbacks give the ball away, which turns into short fields. He also quoted the over 47.5 at 45¢ and 51.5 at 34¢ for anyone who expects a shootout.

Why take the Ravens at −5.5 instead of −3.5?

Because NFL final margins cluster at three and seven and rarely land on four or five. Gene reads Ravens −3.5 at 51¢ and Ravens −5.5 at 44¢. If you think Baltimore wins by a touchdown, both contracts cash on almost the same games and the −5.5 pays more. CJ's number is Ravens 20–16 with Tyler Huntley, which would cash −3.5 and miss −5.5.

How much does the Henry, Allen and Walker touchdown combo pay?

Gene quoted the singles at 64¢ (Henry), 59¢ (Allen) and 62¢ (Walker). Multiply them and the three-leg combo is about 23%, or roughly 4.3x before fees, if the legs are independent. Gene said 8x to 12x on tape. Price the actual combo in the Combo Edge Builder before you enter it, because what Kalshi charges for the combo is the number that matters.

Why do both hosts like the Titans–Colts under?

Tennessee has scored 58 points in five games, 11.6 a game, and has not cleared the total in any of them. Indianapolis wins by running the ball and running the clock. CJ's only path to the over is a defensive or special-teams touchdown.
