Kalshi Settlement Rules: Ties, DNP, Postponed Games and Combos
The five questions traders ask most after a game ends in a way the contract didn’t obviously cover. Each answer is the short version; the link under it goes to the full explainer, which quotes Kalshi’s rules text.
Quick Answer
As of October 2026, very little on Kalshi voids. An NFL tie pays 50¢ on each side of a team contract with no Tie strike; a player who does not play settles at the last fair price, not a refund; a game postponed more than 48 hours resolves at a fair price; and a combo pays the product of its legs, so a scalar leg (the blue arrow) shrinks the payout instead of cancelling it.
Ties
An NFL tie does not void your position. On a team contract with no Tie strike listed, Yes and No holders are each paid 50¢ a contract, overtime counts toward the result, and the separate "Game to Tie" market settles Yes. A Premier League fixture is different: it lists a Tie contract of its own, settled on the score after 90 minutes plus stoppage time.
Kalshi tie rules, quoted →A player who does not play (DNP)
Kalshi does not refund a player contract when the player sits. If he is ruled out before the game, or is active but never takes a snap, every contract on him settles to the last fair price Kalshi sets. Once he takes part in a single play, the contract settles on his statistics.
The DNP and void rule →"The price moved, so your order didn’t match"
This is not a settlement and nothing is wrong with your account: the offer you were looking at was taken or pulled before your order went through. Use the Limit tab on the order ticket, name the most you will pay, and let the order rest until the market comes to your price.
Why an order fails to match, and the fix →Combos and the blue arrow
A combo pays the product of each leg’s final value, capped at $1.00 a contract. A blue arrow on a leg means it settled scalar — somewhere between $0 and $1, as a DNP leg does — so it shrinks the payout instead of voiding the combo.
What the blue arrow pays →Postponed, suspended or cancelled games
A delay inside 48 hours keeps the market alive on the rescheduled game. A cancellation, a delay of more than 48 hours, or a game suspended and not resumed within 48 hours sends the market to the last fair price — not to a win or a loss. Read the market’s own rules text before entering a position on a game with weather or schedule risk.
Postponements, from the draw-contract explainer →Every Kalshi market carries its own rules text, and it governs. These are the standard terms for game and player markets as we have read and quoted them; when a market’s rules say something different, the market’s rules win.
Kalshi Settlement FAQ
What happens if a game ends in a tie on Kalshi?
An NFL tie does not void your position. On a team contract with no Tie strike listed, Yes and No holders are each paid 50¢ a contract, and the separate "Game to Tie" market settles Yes. Overtime counts toward the result. Premier League fixtures list a Tie contract of their own, settled on the score after 90 minutes plus stoppage time.
Does Kalshi count overtime?
Yes, for NFL game contracts: overtime counts toward the result, and only a game still level after overtime is a tie. Premier League contracts are the exception — they settle on 90 minutes plus stoppage time, never extra time or penalties.
Does Kalshi refund for injured players?
No. A player contract is not refunded or voided when the player sits. If he is ruled out before the game, or is active but never takes a snap, the contract settles to the last fair price Kalshi sets. Once he plays a single snap, it settles on his statistics.
Does Kalshi void players who don’t play?
No. A player who does not play settles at the last fair price rather than voiding. Inside a combo that leg settles scalar — the blue arrow — so it shrinks the combo payout instead of cancelling the combo.
Why does Kalshi say the price moved so my order didn’t match?
The offer you were looking at was taken or pulled before your order went through. Nothing is wrong with your account. Switch the order ticket to Limit, enter the most you will pay per contract, keep the expiration on good ’til canceled, and let the order rest until the market reaches your price.
What happens to a Kalshi market if the game is postponed?
A delay of 48 hours or less keeps the market alive on the rescheduled game. A cancellation, a delay of more than 48 hours, or a game suspended and not resumed within 48 hours resolves the market at the last fair price under Kalshi’s rules, not as a win or a loss.
