Polymarket US settlement rules

On Polymarket US, a winning contract settles at $1.00 and a losing one at $0.00, usually shortly after the official result. Some markets have their own terms. Games canceled or postponed past expiration settle at last fair market prices. Each market’s page carries its rules, and those govern.

Checked November 4, 2026. Polymarket US's own rules govern.

Does Polymarket US void if a player doesn’t play?

Polymarket US's MLB rules say: “If the player doesn't participate at all, the Contract settles at LFMP,” meaning last fair market price. For other sports and props, check the market's rules on its page.

What happens on a tie?

On a winner market with no tie outcome: “If the game ends in a tie with no winner declared, the Contract settles at $0.50.”

On a winner market with a tie outcome, such as soccer: “Exactly one settles at $1.00, the others at $0.00.”

When do markets settle?

Polymarket US says markets stay open until the outcome is known, and sports markets “often resolve shortly after the official result is posted.” It gives no fixed time. Settlement is delayed while an official result is under review. Under Rule 10.4 of the US Rulebook, the company may also review an outcome before settlement, and settlement then happens on the date the review concludes.

What if a game is postponed?

If a game is postponed before the start of play and rescheduled before the contract's expiration date, typically two weeks from the original event date, the official result of the rescheduled game governs. Polymarket US adds: “Postponed games do not automatically carry over to the rescheduled date.”

If the rescheduled game falls outside expiration, contracts on the original game settle at last fair market prices. The same goes for a game canceled and not rescheduled before expiration, as of when the cancellation was officially announced.

How do Combos settle?

A combo settles once. One losing leg takes it to $0, and a leg that can't resolve settles at its last fair market price and stays in the combo. Full detail on Polymarket US combos.

What the US Rulebook adds

Rule 10.3 lets the company modify a contract's specifications, including its settlement date and payout condition, if an event may materially affect the contract's reliability or transparency. Rule 10.4 covers outcome reviews and says the company may reverse a final outcome in the case of obvious error. Its determinations are final.
