Big Brother 28 Winner Odds: Dane Says a Survivor Takes It — Kalshi Prices Devens and Dee at 71¢ Together

Dane opens the tape by saying he cannot believe he is about to say it. Then he says it: the noobs are going to let a former Survivor win Big Brother 28.

The board already agrees. Two Survivor alumni — Rick Devens and Dee Valladares — hold 69.5¢ of a winner market whose live contracts sum to 97.5¢. Everyone else in the house shares the remaining 28¢.

Dane's call on tape is Rick Devens at 37%. At today's 36¢ ask plus the Kalshi taker fee, that entry is about 37.6¢ against a 35¢ mid — a fair price, not a discount. But his actual argument is broader than one name: a former Survivor wins this season. You can buy that whole thesis for roughly 74¢ all-in by owning Devens and Dee together, and it pays $1 if either one takes it. That is the better expression of the tape for anyone who believes the thesis above ~74%. The tell nobody is pricing off: Melody Morris just won competitions back-to-back and trades at 1–2¢ — proof this board pays for jury votes, not comp wins.

What is the position?

Dane's read on tape: "Devens is now my choice to win this season. I think Devens now you can get him at 37%."

The trade: Devens alone at the ask is priced about right. The two-name Survivor basket at ~71¢ before fees is the cheaper way to own what Dane is actually arguing.

Resolution: the winner is declared in the finale, expected the last week of September

What happened in the double eviction?

Both of the house's answers to the Survivor problem left in the same hour.

Barrett Pfeiffer went first. Then Yash Patel went too. Yash was, in Dane's words, the houseguest everyone "basically feared, respected as the best competitor in the house" — and he could not compete for the Head of Household in the back half of the double. The house then nominated Dee and Devens, which was the one move that could have ended this. Devens won the veto.

Both Survivors survived the only week built to remove them. That is the entire season in one sentence.

Here is the part worth keeping: Kalshi's Week 10 elimination event settled with two Yes contracts — Barrett Pfeiffer and Yash Patel. The nine finalized weeks before it settled with exactly one, every time.

A board of seven contracts that sums to 207¢ is not a mispriced board. It is a board telling you two people are leaving, because the contracts are not mutually exclusive and the Kalshi rules say multiple simultaneous eliminations each count. The favorite went. So did the third name on the list. The 44.5¢ contract in the middle — Melody — did not.

Keep that habit. Sum the elimination board before you read any single price on it. The sum is the count.

What has moved since the double eviction?

Everything. This is the fastest repricing the series has produced:

Devens is the story: 17.5¢ to a 40¢ previous close to a 35¢ mid in three days. He won the veto that saved him, then won the Week 11 Head of Household, which guarantees him a Final Four seat. The pullback from 40¢ to 35¢ is the market giving back some of the reflex move, which is why Dane's 37% on tape and today's 36¢ ask land in the same neighborhood.

Why is Melody at 1–2¢ after winning competitions?

This is the most instructive price on the board, and it is the one the tape and the market agree on hardest.

Melody Morris won multiple competitions in a row. Dane gives her the credit — "shout out to Melody for winning a couple of competitions in a row" — and then fades her anyway: "it was cool that you won a couple things, but you are not going to get through as well."

The board is more brutal than he is. With five people left, a uniform market would have every houseguest at 20¢. Melody is at 1–2¢ — about one-thirteenth of uniform, while simultaneously carrying a 75–82¢ price to be eliminated this week.

That gap is the lesson. Big Brother winner markets are jury-vote markets. A competition win late in the game buys you a week of safety and buys the jury nothing. If you only ever take one habit from this series, take that one: when a houseguest's comp record and their winner price move in opposite directions, the price is reading the jury and the comp record is reading the television.

How does the final five actually count?

Dane's structural read, in his order:

• Devens and Dee are "the best competitors left in the house" now that Yash and Barrett are gone.
• Taylor Brown: "I love Taylor. I don't think she has any allies left. I don't think she's going to get through."
• Melody Morris: comp wins, no path.
• Drew Campbell: "Drew has weaseled his way all the way to the end, but no one is going to give him the vote at the end either."
• The next HOH "is probably going to be Devens or Dee or Drew, and they are going to stay together."

Run that forward and every branch ends with at least one Survivor in the final two, sitting across from someone the jury does not want to pay. That is why the conclusion is not "Devens wins" — it is "somehow some way a former Survivor is going to win this season."

Which is a different position than the one he names.

The trade Dane names, and the trade his argument makes

What he names: Devens at 37%. His math on tape is that $100 returns about $260. At today's 36¢ ask that is roughly right — $100 buys about 277 contracts, paying about $277 if he wins. Net of the Kalshi taker fee (7% × price × (1 − price) per contract, about 1.6¢ at 36¢), your real entry is closer to 37.6¢ against a 35¢ mid. You are paying a small premium to the market's own middle. Not a bad position. Not an edge.

What his argument makes: the Survivor basket.

The board's own mid on "a Survivor wins" is 69.5¢. Buying both at the ask costs about 74.2¢ all-in, so the basket needs your true conviction to sit above roughly 74% to be worth owning. Dane's tape is not hedged — "somehow some way" is not 70% language. If you hold his conviction, the basket is the position and the single name is the smaller version of it. If you think it is closer to a coin flip inside a 70% thesis, you do not want either at these prices.

One microstructure note for anyone entering size. Devens shows about 204 contracts offered at 36¢ against roughly 27 bid — you can get filled. Dee shows only about 44 offered at 35¢ against 315 bid. Sellers are lined up on Devens and buyers are lined up on Dee, so a size order on Dee moves her price and a size order on Devens does not. Build the Dee leg first.

What are the Week 11 eviction odds?

Two things to read here.

Drew went from a 50¢ previous close to a 5¢ mid. He is nominated and he is not the target — the board priced the entire nomination ceremony before it aired, which is the fourth straight week this series has documented that happening.

The sum is 118¢, not 100¢. The board is pricing more than one exit again as the house runs toward the finale. It is nowhere near Week 10's 207¢, but it is not a single-eviction week either. Melody at a 75–82¢ spread is seven cents wide — if you want that side, the 75¢ bid is where a patient order sits, not the 82¢ ask.
