About this video
Everyone's asking if the Lions regress in 2026. Wrong question β the regression already happened. It just hit the record, not the roster. Detroit went 9-8 and finished LAST in the NFC North. They also finished 3rd in the NFL in total DVOA β one of only two teams top-10 in all three phases. That's a 10.2 Pythagorean-win team that closed 3-of-4 losses and watched January from the couch. What actually broke: π¦ Worst defensive injury load in football (92.7 AGL, 32nd) π¦ Starting O-line played together on 32.4% of snaps π¦ Recovered 10 of 33 fumbles β coin flips came up tails all year None of that is skill. All of it regresses back. Now the 2026 setup: 6th-easiest projected schedule, Sewell flips to left tackle, Gibbs is the bell cow with Montgomery gone, and new OC Drew Petzing brings the under-center play action Goff ranked 5th in. The model says 10.6 wins. The market is still pricing the 9-8. That's the gap. Full breakdown β division math, the Branch and Kerby Joseph risk that could blow it up, and where the win-total contract is actually priced: π Live NFL win totals board: Trade it on Kalshi: β Coach Gene Clemons, The 7 Oracles

Coach Gene Clemons breaks down whether the Detroit Lions should be expected to regress in the 2026 NFL season. The argument is that the regression has already occurred and that it landed on the record rather than the roster. Detroit finished the 2025 season 9-8 and last in the NFC North, ranked 9th in the NFL in our power ratings, and posted a Pythagorean win total of 10.0 against 481 points scored and 413 allowed. The team recovered only nine of thirty-two available fumbles, a 28 percent rate that was the worst in the league against a 50 percent average, used nine different starting offensive line combinations in seventeen games, and lost fifty-six games to defensive starters. Those inputs regress positively, but they add up to roughly one win rather than three. The counter is schedule shape: a Week 6 bye that requires Detroit to start 4-1, and a closing stretch with three road division games in the final four weeks. The 7 Oracles Prediction model projects 9.8 wins against a Kalshi ladder implying 10.3, making the market fair at the 9 or more wins rung and rich at 10 or more, 11 or more and 12 or more.
