What Google launched
On Oct. 28, Google launched the preview of its Connected Apps Platform, one place for developers to build apps for Search and the Gemini app. Developers connect a cloud-hosted MCP server (the Model Context Protocol, the open standard AI assistants use to call outside tools) and choose whether the app goes live in Search, the Gemini app or both. Google says it has launched more than 50 connected apps across the two, with partners like Adobe, Calm, Experian and Peloton, and it's opening developer access in phases.
The piece that matters for traders: these apps answer from live data at the moment you ask. Ask about the Fed, Sunday's game or tomorrow's high temperature, and the answer can come from the market itself instead of a week-old web page.
Why prediction-market traders should care
Search results are snapshots. Market prices aren't. When you ask what Kalshi is pricing on a December rate decision, you want the number at the moment you ask, and where it came from.

- Ask by name. Type @ in a new chat, pick PredictionMarketsPicks, and name the tool in your question: @PredictionMarketsPicks use fed_rate_odds: what are the odds for the next FOMC meeting? In our Oct. 31 test, a plain question with the app added still answered from web search; naming the app and the tool made Gemini call it and return the live Kalshi numbers.
