How this settles

Resolves YES if the BLS-reported CPI 12-month percentage change for the period ending August 2026 exceeds 2.5%, using the one-decimal-place figure published by the BLS.

  • One-decimal rounding is the adjudicating figureThe unrounded CPI change could be, e.g., 2.54% (which rounds to 2.5%) and still resolve NO, since the contract uses the one-decimal-place BLS print — so a reading of exactly 2.5% is NOT above 2.5% and resolves NO.
  • Initial release vs. revised printThe BLS occasionally revises CPI figures; the rules don't specify which release (initial vs. revision) governs, creating ambiguity if a revision crosses the 2.5% threshold in either direction.
  • CPI headline, not Core CPIThe rules reference the general Consumer Price Index, not Core CPI (ex-food & energy), so traders modeling core inflation are tracking the wrong metric.
