How this settles
Resolves YES if the maximum temperature recorded at Chicago station CLIMDW on the settlement date meets the variant's threshold condition (between a range, strictly above, or strictly below the threshold) according to The Weather Company.
- CLIMDW station, not a generic Chicago reading — Resolution uses the specific Weather Company station code CLIMDW — readings from other Chicago-area stations or sources are irrelevant and may differ.
- The Weather Company is the sole data source — Only The Weather Company's recorded maximum is used; NWS, Weather Underground, or any other provider's data has no bearing on settlement, even if it differs.
- Inclusive vs. strict boundary varies by variant — The range variant (e.g., 78–79°F) is inclusive on both ends, the 'greater than' variant is strictly exclusive (hitting exactly the threshold resolves NO), and the 'less than' variant is also strictly exclusive — the direction of the inequality changes which side of the threshold resolves YES vs. NO.
- Integer Fahrenheit granularity assumed — The thresholds are stated in whole-degree Fahrenheit increments, so traders must confirm whether The Weather Company reports to decimal precision and how rounding affects boundary cases.
These are the rules for the whole series — every contract in it settles the same way. Full KXHIGHCHI settlement rules →
